The estate constitutes a unique environment, encompassing lush forests and vineyards spread along the slopes of the Lessini Mountains, directly opposite Mount Baldo, known as the “Garden of Europe”. This area is renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity, housing 43% of the entire European alpine flora, half of all Italian orchid species (over 60), and 40% of known butterfly species (2,085).
Within the ancient walls of the estate, the conversion to certified organic farming began in 2015, and in 2018, it received the “Biodiversity Friend” recognition from the World Biodiversity Association. In 2024, the estate achieved the Equalitas certification as a sustainable winery, a sustainability recognition that evaluates environmental, economic, and social aspects.
This milestone highlights the importance for San Leonardo of adopting sustainable practices: from the ecological management of vineyards and wineries, to controlling energy and water consumption, and maintaining ethical business management. Equally crucial is fostering harmonious relationships with collaborators and local communities
