Tasting Notes

Genuary 2010 - Fine Wine - 17/20
Medium-deep color, still relatively youthful. A little reserved on the nose but reasonably fresh. The main feature in the mouth is favors the former. But a remarkable 21-year-old wine overall, quite capable of continuino another decade.

Harvest Report

San Leonardo's first great vintage, which witnessed heavy rain in May (118 millimetres) followed by a dry summer when temperatures overall averaged nearly 30 °C. From the third ten days in July until 15 August, the average temperature was 32 °C, which is very high for the area.
Picking began on 6 October for the Merlot, 15 October for the Cabernet Franc and 23 October for the Cabernet Sauvignon. A crucial factor was the high day-night temperature fluctuation during September, with a minimum of 10.5 °C and maximum of about 26 °C.

Maturity Curve and Serving

The standard bottle is ready for drinking but the magnum will continue to mature. Serve at a temperature of 16 °C.
